Therefore, since 2018, the SENovation Award has recognized startups and pre-founding teams actively addressing the topic of aging. Demographic change is one of the greatest societal challenges of our time.
It doesn't matter whether the participants have developed a solution specifically for senior citizens or are pursuing an intergenerational approach.
Who can participate?
All applicants aged 18 or over from Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland are eligible to participate, provided they meet the following criteria:
- have already founded a start-up that develops offers specifically for older people or combines age-independent solutions with a conscious approach to older people, and was founded after June 29, 2022, or
- Submit a coherent concept for an age-appropriate product or service, but have not yet founded a company.
The competition is not open to non-profit organizations or associations.
Prerequisite: All applicants must have developed a concept that addresses specific needs or offers an ageless concept that considers the diverse abilities of different user groups.
The SENovation Award therefore recognizes not only business ideas exclusively tailored to older adults, but also products
that span generations. Solutions from all sectors are welcome, regardless of whether they are intended for the B2C or B2B market.
How does the SENovation Award competition work?
The application period runs until June 30, 2026 .
Applications are accepted exclusively online via the form on the website .
Basic data of the participants will be collected. The idea will be presented in a PowerPoint presentation. A 60- to 90-second video may also be submitted.
All participants automatically accept the terms and conditions of participation.
An online panel of senior citizens evaluates all suitable applications.
The most successful teams will have the opportunity to present their business idea in person at the digital semi-final on August 5, 2026.
On September 24th The final will take place at the SIGNAL IDUNA Group's premises in Dortmund.
The jury meeting and award ceremony will follow directly after the pitches.

In addition, there is also a prize of € 5,000 for the best concept, individual coaching by experts from business and science, and workshops to further develop your business models.
