What is the Inspired ideas competition about?

Seeking innovative ideas and research results:

  • Idea carriers should receive fast, uncomplicated and needs-based support. Therefore, no fully developed business plans are expected, but rather a concise, precise presentation of the business idea.
  • The idea will be further developed during the course of the competition. The necessary know-how is imparted in webinars and consultations.
  • The experience and intensive start-up training during the course of the competition make all participants fit for their own start-up - even without an award from the jury. The results can also be used for applications for EXIST start-up grants, EXIST research transfer or the state start-up grant.
  • The ideas competition is also intended to promote the establishment of a sustainable culture of entrepreneurial thinking and action at all levels of universities and non-university research institutions and beyond their campus boundaries.
  • The ideas competition promotes the development of innovative ideas at colleges and universities as well as in the entire research region of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and increases their chances of success in terms of establishing themselves on the market.

What requirements are there?

  • The business idea must not yet have been awarded a prize in another competition with public funds.
  • The company must not yet have been founded or registered as a business.
  • The idea must have been developed independently by the participants and must not infringe the rights of third parties.

How does the Inspired ideas competition work?

Register now at your college or university in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and submit your idea sketch. (Interested researchers register for the local ideas competition via their assigned university).
The winners of the local competitions will then have the opportunity to present their idea to a state-wide jury.

The procedure is as follows:

  • Stage 1
You register for the ideas competition with a short description (1/2 DIN A4 page) of your idea. This can be done either via a form, by e-mail or by filling out the registration cards (each can be found on the HS/UNI pages).
  • Stage 2
You prepare a detailed outline of your idea (max. 5-7 pages) using the outline guide (also available on the HS/UNI website).
  • Stage 3
You present your idea to the jury in 6 minutes. You will then have a further 6 minutes for discussion and questions.

The pitches and the award ceremony will take place on July 18, 2024 in the auditorium of the main university building in Rostock.

What can you win?

The winners of the local competitions will receive cash prizes donated by companies from the region.
All winners of the statewide "inspired" ideas competition will once again receive cash prizes and training vouchers.
In 2024, the Berlin Valley Tour will also take place again, where start-ups and start-up-friendly companies will be visited.

And besides!

Taking part in the ideas competition is definitely worthwhile - even if you don't win.
The individual experience you gain from creating the competition concepts will prepare you for the subsequent implementation of your idea. In addition, your submitted idea sketch can also be used as the basis for an application for an EXIST start-up grant, EXIST research transfer or even for the state start-up grant.
